Tech Literacy Question 2

What theory of technology explains the role you see technology fulfilling?

Haas' reference to "embodied practice" (p. 37) seems like a productive jumping off point for understanding the ways in which technology attempts to deal with the tensions between content (writing assignments, etc.) and culture (sociopolitical realities, etc.).

Modern electronic technology not only makes language material, as Haas (p. 5) explains, it makes it multi-modal.  It allows knowledge to exist outside of the knower.

Quanisha Group:

The implications of Selfe, "Technology is a tool we can control; but we also must learn to use that tool". - This goes back to the importance of being computer literate and having the ability to read and write. Technology is something we create, so we must learn how to control it due to its continuous changes.

Per Postman's implication, "People worship technology; we grant technology power". People are spoiled by technology and fairly believe it is needed to survive or function in modern society.

Per Haas implication, "Over time technology's impact on literacy become hard to see; technology's effect on cognition".  See 2nd implication**
